The paper work will show a map of pit lane/marshalling area. You come down pit lane, turn left to go to carports, hang a right and go straight on marshalling area. As you enter the marshalling area the stop watch begins. You can fuel/lube etc and restart, waiting at exit for your timed stop to expire, then continue on.
So the "timed" is entry to exit of Marshalling area.
Hi Nathan, The Stock Honda would have a great chance of taking the prize with 2 good drivers at the wheel. The NSW Enduro use to be a 2 hour event and it was a battle between speed and reliability – a Tortoise and Hare race. :)
The photos below are of the late Peter Worrell and myself back in the early 90’s. Peter and I won the event twice , together but I think Peter won it three or four times with other drivers. On the morning of the 3rd Enduro, I was to partner Peter but I lifted the 20L litre fuel can the wrong way and pinched a nerve in my back and literally could not move. At the last minute, we organised with the officials for Dale Harris to take over my drive. Dale was a excellent driver and fitted the seat too which was also very important for a quick stop – they went on to win that day. :)
In the those Enduros we drove Peter’s YZ125 Centreline kart which was probably about the same speed as a Stock Honda is now. It was a great choice as it had good speed and was very reliable. :D
To capitalise on the refuelling time, I had made an overhead fuel rig that sat on the pit wall at Oran Park and had a 25mm hose and ball valve on it. You could fill the two 5litre fuel tank quicker than taking the fuel cap off so we were very quick in our stops.
In the second Enduro at about the 1 hour mark, Pelly was leading in a 250 National and I started to chase him down but Peter got nervous and made some frantic Pit Signals to me to slow down but I did not see them .. ::) Unfortunately, for John, he broke an engine mount and had to stop to replace it and we went on to claim the victory.
Two hours in my opinion is a real Enduro as it is equally about a good pace with consistent reliability and allows the Rotax Max’s to use their fuel efficiency as a strategy. :-\
BTW – I pretty sure that the Enduro was won a couple of times by drivers in 100c non-gearbox on the reliability basis so speed is not the most important factor in an enduro. ;)
Good luck to the competitors at Wakefield, a perfect track for a Tortoise and Hare race. :D
You're a wealth of knowledge, you could write a book, and a bloody interesting one to!
This is our 4th Enduro. Extra time would be awesome but Wakefield have done a great job to give us what they can. The previous 3 years were won by........Alan Dodge 2012 (Rotax), Anton Stevens 2013 (250I), Mark Robin 2014 (Rotax)
Hi Wayne, Just trying to build some interest in the event as they are a lot of fun and help people see another side to Superkarting. :) Maybe, one of the older Superkarter will tell you about the Butchers’ races we use to have ???
I think you have some characters in NSW who could write a good book on Superkarting. ;) Gosh, when I think about the knowledge and memories people like Sam, Pelly, Jeff, Warren and Brian have, not to mention people in the other states like Graeme William, Gary Pegararo, Ian Williams, Chyrs Jamison and Phil Silcock; now you would have a book – not a bad idea before these guys get too old and start to cloud the facts with fiction. Then again, maybe that wouldn’t be too bad either…. :o

Re: Question about March Wakefield Enduro
I'll pop you an email, but the short version is.....
Entry fee "per kart" is $240.00. So if you have 2 drivers sharing......$120.00 Each!
1 x 10 min Qualifier, 1 x 6 lap race to determine start order. 1 x 50 to 60 minute Enduro.
Broadcast live on internet TV.
Pit stops are timed, but pit pretty much at your leisure.
This race also about strategy, do you pit under race condition, do you gamble on a safety car, its your choice.
This event is full on fun!
Cheers
Wayne
Re: Question about March Wakefield Enduro
When you say pit stops are timed, does that mean you have to remain stationary for a minimum time?
