The NKC decided to conduct the committees conference at Darwin this year.
Anyone want to guesstimate a cost comparison between a trip to Darwin, compared to Sydney.
Some Clues:- There are 5 people from each state, the 4 execs, probably the AKA solicitor....all flying in Friday, leaving late Monday.

And how many Kart Parts importers are going at their own expense, to get shafted my their so called mates??
hmmm I wonder why on earth they chose darwin... it has a tiny percentage of australias karters... seems a bit strange to me, ahhh wel!
On a completely UN RELATED matter, didnt darwin do an awsome job of the V8s, just last week. Would of loved to of gone but unfortunately we cant all be AKA reps.. 0o0o0ps i mean we cant all afford it!
Yeh I would say its rather convenient they stay a full week in Darwin dont you agree? since some of them were already there for the V8's last weekend... rather convenient at the karters expense. Ridiculous, Darwin for a conference.
This is the Committee's conference ..it is normally conducted in Sydney where the National office is - it was always intended to have it at the most economical place ..I cant see Darwin being the cheapest place to travel to ..but I believe some of the officials went up there on the gravy and stayed for a holiday .... so we have 7 NKC + the 4 who think they are director material - plus 6 Techs (exclude Qld ) 7 Track Inspectors plus 7 Officials committee - add 7 Admin Committee (State Secretaries) add the co-ordinators of the committees and probably the Solicitor - Auditor and the Members reps because there is a Special General Meeting - that equals 45 people ...Tasmania to Darwin - WA to Darwin - Vic to Darwin ...does not add up to be economical at all when the agenda could have been discussed via video or telephone link ...but costs are not an issue ...I recal a track inspection for the Nationals - someone planned the inspection to suit themselves - did the inspection then hired a car and drove a couple of hours to attend a wedding - just wonder who paid for that one as well ...its all your money and they burn it with no results for karting ..just look at the 270K loaned for the RED clutch fiasco and now they got the dollars another clutch is being presented for approval ...???? . then the industry needs to be there because if you aren't then you get shafted , thats what is done best while you are not there .. and they all wanted to be the directors with more control and those who provide the finances left out with no voice ...
This is a jolly if I ever seen one ... Karters in the NT will be pleased they almost number the number of people attending the AKA show ...!!!!
I don't reckon there will be change out of $50000.....- Karters Money -/... and I got ridiculed by Qld because I arrange cheap accommodation, cheap pub feeds, cheap venues etc.....If you don' do it that way, the fees to the karter increase..... If we see a licence fee hike....think of Darwin.
Ralph, Ralph, Ralph.........do your sums ol' mate, there will be twice as many delegates as karters in the NT. We are struggling to get 25 to a club day!!
You really should be thinking of the poor NT reps who don't get a free flight away this time, they have to stay at home with their wives and girlfriends instead of living it up in some southern city!
They are extremely overworked looking after the 25 or so karters the NT has to offer and well deserve their respite.
Cheers
Swain
Spot on RV. It is surely ridiculous, so ridiculous in fact that something must be done if they are spending karters money like it is tissue paper in the wind, there should be a proper investigation.
If we have such a poor mistrust, and low opinion of these members intentions for our sport, how do we have them removed?, I'm sure bleeting on here is'nt going to help.
Even if they were ousted, the apathy amongst karters will just let someone else in with the same intentions as those before to benefit themselves and their status within the sport, its human nature.
Q. HOW DO WE HAVE THEM REMOVED? ASAP
Are the majority of karters in the same frame of mind, as us, or! are the majority of karters just happy to let someone else worry about it?
Hell of a lot of talk, not much action
Jeff,
you are 100% correct. Every time there is a change, we think, it will be better now....but it's not.
Hang on Laney ... every time we put someone up with the intergrity and honesty that the position demands they dont get that hat ..! The same old boys brigade vote for the same crowd ... you wouldn't want anyone upsetting the routine with accountability would you ..??? And another reason there wont be a change because the smart people look at this outfit and have figured out that they wont be able to change anything so they dont even bother to nominate ..but I am going to seek a nom just to see what happens ..
Swain . you could be right about the no freeby angst for the NT crew considering they have to stay at home and sook this time ...with scrathing to get 25 you could almost run the even from home by phone ....!!!
Any news from today?
Once again, the NKC has demonstrated that it is out of touch with the membership. They, as individuals, thought the Secretariat changes to the constitution approved by the members were in order, whereas if they had done their job properly as delegates of their members, they would have told the Secretariat that's not what our members want, our members want to carry on with the approved model.
The approved model has the clubs as voters not the current secretariat voting themsleves into office with more power
