Re: CIK Approval for Viper SK250S
Does this also mean for the European Superkart Championship too ???
What changes does the 2016 model have compared to the previous model?
Best regards,
Allan
Re: CIK Approval for Viper SK250S
Yes it does! The grids at the 3 x 2016 CIK/FIA European Superkart Championship will now be made up of both twins and singles (monocylinders), each running for their own title.
The dates are:
Ledenon (France) - 21st-22nd May
Donington Park/European Round and British Superkart GP (UK) - 4th-5th Jun
Assen (Holland) - 6th-7th August
As well as running our team drivers, we will have a hire kart (Anderson 30mm/2-Bearing Axle equipped with Viper SK250S) for hire to suitable applicants for European Championship Rounds, British Championship Rounds and British Superkart GP
Best Regards
Ian :)

Re: CIK Approval for Viper SK250S
would it be right that all the 250 EVO engines (THR and DEA) got the rubber stamp also? Did the upgrade kits get rubber stamped by the CIK as well?
Re: CIK Approval for Viper SK250S
Viper, THR, DEA and all got approval and of course the GasGas was CIK approved anyway.
The CIK didn't consider allowing any of the motocross engines, or Motocross engines with the upgrade kits (both Viper and THR offer these). I think that is a bit of a shame myself, but not surprising.

Re: CIK Approval for Viper SK250S
Having a CIK recognised Mono class can only be good for the 250 National class around the world and will also mean that second hand kits will be available each year for the offering at a reduced price. :)
The only question that we will have to discuss here is Australia will be if we allow the kits to be used locally.
For me, it is a Yes, but others might have a different view. 8)
I understand from our conversations Ian that you are prepared to cast a Viper SK250S cylinder that would suit the CR250 72mm standard stroke if you get the orders - so either way, the CR250 motors are covered if locally, we cannot get approval to run the kit parts on the standard CR250 motor.
I have long been keen to get an upgrade path for the CR250 motors as it allows budget racers to spread the cost of the improvements over a number of years thereby allowing teams to stay competitive and involved. It also keeps the value of their Superkarts reasonable with the current EVO changes. :)
Regards,
Allan.
Re: CIK Approval for Viper SK250S
think you might want to attack/ approach your NSA reps about getting them over the line. Wish you luck with that.
Re: CIK Approval for Viper SK250S
I was hoping for some discussion about the subject first as I understand there are not many effected by this change currently.
I would like to go to a kit in the future so that I can save money instead of buying a full EVO motor.
It seems to me to be a good budget level investment and saves me having to do the development work to boot.
By paving the way to a cheaper alternative with upgrade path to a full EVO in the future if needed, it allows Teams to remain competitive on a budget. :)
