Hi all,
so, as some of you might know, last year we decided to get the opportunity offered by BSA and we made application to build our own single cylinder engine. :)
After some rumours we decided to proceed "in silence". what i can say is that the baby is growing well, so we felt ready to show something of it... well it's not so much for now, as everything else is almost ready but still "top secret", but we're ready to give a really little appetizer: its intake manifold.
It can be seen here: http://www.dea-engineering.com/?p=18
In the next days we'll proceed to show more parts, until the baby will be completely ready, so if you like to know the updates real time keep checking our website, or just follow us on our facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/DeaEngineering
Obviously the fact that we're releasing this and the fact that we just released some dirtbike juicy parts doesn't mean that we leave the twin: at the opposite, we're even releasing the 2013th twin. ;)
So, we're not sleeping and many things are coming.
I hope this update is appreciated. On our side, we'll always do our best to raise the level and make the standard higher. 8)
Best regards,
Martina

Re: New DEA single cylinder is coming
sorry for the late reply. I tried to answer yesterday night with my cell phone, but I wasn't able.
For the price we still have to make the precise counts, however we plan to stay between the 3500 and the 4000 euros.
Some things must be said.
We have to be honest, we studied some Hondas to understand their outstanding points and their weakness.
We found that some Honda parts were, in our opinion, still very good and at a reasonable price.
I am referring expecially at the gearbox and parts like that.
We even had some Honda that were ready to be trashed because used in a "barbarian way", but in which the gearbox was surprisingly still almost perfect.
So, even to keep prices the lowest as we could and to help those who still had an Honda, we decided to not do these parts.
I am referring to gearbox, clutch, ignition rotor etc.
Mean that it is necessary that you get on your own these Honda CR250 parts, or that (if you want that we do the full assemblation) you have to consider that the price with those parts will be a little higher compared to the price said upside.
We decided to leave people free to choose what they prefer to do (even since there are still many people that actually uses Honda, still has these parts at their home and can continue to use them just taking them off their old engine and putting them in our), so spending more money would be completely unneccessary. We hope that this idea is appreciated.
So, what's inside the "standard" packet?
Head, cylinder, piston, crankshaft, crankcase, balance shaft, clutch cover, water pump, water pump cover, etc.
All these parts comes out studied expecially for a superkart use, while the Honda was perfect for its original use but in the superkart world was just an "adaptation".
Hope to have give an idea.
Regards,
Martina

We prefer to verify and give the exact value instead than saying a value just for a "commercial reason".

Hi Martina,
are you going to CIK Homologate the new engine kit?

The Homologation will be made at BSA.

Wow, this price seems very resonable and a fantastic idea to use parts from a Honda CR 250.
Will the engine kit come with a drawing of recommended exhaust dimensions and an Ignition curve?
Thankyou for the update Martina.
Re: New DEA single cylinder is coming (updated: Feb. 15th)
Just to slightly correct a very small point. The BSA (British Superkart Association) does not hold engine homologations.
The DEA along with the Viper 250EVO, GasGas 250K, THR and any others that may emerge are/will be registered as eligible 250cc monocylinder engines with the MSA (Motor Sports Association).
Over the next 2 weeks, Viper Racing UK will be producing a web based catalogue/pricelist of new O/E Honda engines, parts, parts kits (primarily 5 and 6-speed transmission/clutch kits with alternative ratios) and other parts/services relevant to 250 National racers and builders of the DEA, Viper 250EVO and THR new generation EVO engines, all of which are based on the Honda CR250 platform.
Once published, I will post a link to the list.
Best Regards
Ian :)

Hi Scott, in a first moment it won't come with these things, as many preparetors prefers to do their own. Then we will do that too.

Hi Ian, yes I know that, when speaking I usually say BSA because it immediately tells that I am referring to the British. Cheers!
Re: New DEA single cylinder is coming (updated: Mar. 22nd)

You can find it here:
