Hi all,
welcome to 2014. There are 3 practice days available in February and are as follows,
February 2nd Queensland Raceway 8am - 12 Midday Cost $120.00
February 16th Lakeside Park 9.30am - 12 Midday Cost $120.00
February 23rd Lakeside Park 9.30am - 12 Midday Cost $120.00
Please reply to the Secretary (secretary@qldsuperkart.org) if you are going to any of them. As usual we need 10 or more to get our own slot. If we get sufficient replies, we will announce the practice sessions will be on for Superkarts.

I've heard Stocky call you a number 2 before Sammy :-)

Nope I've never heard that one Jason but I have heard this next quote twice, once to my face and once in writing. Quote directly from the Pelican;
"We are the 3 stooges (Brian/Warren/Sam). I'm the 3rd stooge that holds everyone else up that's why Brian and Warren are miles in front of the rest of the field". Quote from 2003 - can't get over the fact of my first 250 Int Australian Champion status late in 2002.

This year also celebrates 40 years of Superkart racing in Queensland. In early 1974. The Toowoomba Kart Club decided that it would promote a road race event (now superkart) as they had not established their own circuit at that time. The idea had taken off in Sydney and they were keen to see it get underway in Queensland. The idea had a lot of support and on 31st March 1974 the very first race meeting was held at the now defunct Surfers Paradise Raceway. There was a total of 75 entries, mainly sprint classes, with a lot of gearbox Karts making their way up from Sydney.
About 1 year later, a break away club formed to do road racing events only. It was called the Queensland Road Race Kart Club then in 1985 I think it was changed to the Queensland Superkart Club Inc.
Re: February Practice Days
On a more serious note though, who has to get seriously injured or killed before they figure out that a Rotax max or any kart for that matter should not be on the track with F3's formula fords and formula V's. This was some of the most dangerous stupid stuff I have seen in racing since last time it happened at Lakeside.
Once again instead of being treated like a valued customer they were quite happy to put people at risk.
What people don't seem to understand is that one engine lock up in front of a car can mean someone dies.
Jason.

Good to see so many karts and new guys out on track.

Gotta agree Jason
Traffic was bad with such a huge speed difference between cars. And i find it stupid that we as a category have to get minimum 10 entries to even think about getting track time while the other guys just rock up and QR throw them in with us as they're 'open wheelers'.
Re: February Practice Days
It would be interesting to get a perspective from the F3/FF drivers that were out there on the weekend.
Re: February Practice Days
Like you said we are forced to turn up with numbers and even if we do the others get thrown in with us if they don't have the numbers. They back us into a corner as we have already rolled up and paid and committed to a day of practice, they know that guys will take the risk so they try it on. As a club we need to address this, I will bring it up at the meeting.
Mike the speed difference from the pit wall was scary in a straight line between the F3 and the slower karts, thank god the formula guys drove with care and there was no chest beating out there. Unfortunately no amount of care can account for a mechanical problem that causes an accident, that's why they are called accidents
Put simply its not bloody good enough.
Jason.
